Understanding the treatment
Hyaluronic acid lip fillers may change lip volume or contour. Planning starts with your existing anatomy, previous treatments and the change you have in mind, with time to discuss individual expectations.
At your consultation
- Assessment considers lip anatomy and its relationship to the rest of the face.
- Discuss previous fillers and any history of cold sores around the lips.
- Ask what to expect afterwards, how follow-up works and when to seek a review.
Risks & limitations
Swelling, tenderness, bruising, lumps, asymmetry or infection may occur. As with other filler injections, there is a rare risk of blood-vessel injury. Unusual pain, skin-colour changes or visual symptoms require immediate medical attention.
Is the appearance immediately afterwards the final result?
Not necessarily. Early swelling and bruising can affect appearance. Discuss recovery and the appropriate time to assess the outcome with your doctor.
Can I choose a look from a photograph?
A photograph can help explain your preference. It cannot guarantee the same result, because lip and facial anatomy differ between people.
